REVIEWS/Dry Cell 07/20/02

We had the privilege to talk with Dry Cell on their tour bus after their set and meet and greets. Thus, this made the concert that much more enjoyable and fun. Dry Cell played many songs on the still unreleased album ‘Disconnected.’ Each song gave the audience another perspective of the band. Some songs are fast and upbeat, others are sad and depressing. More songs are hard, fast and rocking, but there are a few that showed a softer side to the four-piece group.

Jeff, 26, is the lead singer. Obviously, the band member with the most sex appeal is required to remove his T-Shirt at every show. It is understandable why. The temperatures were upwards of 85-degrees. (Plus he has nipple piercings!) He unmistakably has his own unique sound and quality to his voice.

Dry Cell’s youngest member Danny, 15, plays guitar for the group. It seems as though nothing else matters when that guitar is in his hands. He becomes oblivious to the moshing crowd. All that matters is his music.

The bassist Judd, 17, is the hardcore member of the band. Adding a bass tone and underlying vocals, Judd gives a very ‘hard rock vibe’ to the style of music that is Dry Cell. His own shy personality is not easily observed in concert.

Finally, the drummer Brandon Brown, 16, is the base in which all things Dry Cell rock. His keeping and controlling of the beat causes the band to achieve many great things on stage and while recording. The passion for the trap set and power he has behind each swing of the drumstick makes him one of the hottest players in the rock industry.

Overall, Dry Cell kicks ass live and on CD. As the long awaited debut disk keeps getting its release date pushed farther back, many things remain to be of the moment. Dry Cell’s undying tendencies to rock hard and get everyone, even those who aren’t fans, to get up and join the party.
