Sunset Black

They did not show up on the ticket nor were they mentioned in any media source as openers and no one was expecting much from them. When the lights dimmed and they came out, they simply walked casually over to their instruments, giving the impression that they really didn't care about playing. That impression was wrong. Although the crowd did not react to them at all, I was very impressed. The lead singer belted out all of the lyrics in a loud singing voice, while the rest of the band was also very into the music, but did not take much advantage of the oversized stage. They played a long set, and even though the crowd did not react, they stuck to their own music and did not play any covers to get the crowd off if their feet. If given the chance, I will certainly go see them again.

Kid Rock

Of all the shows that I have been to, this one certainly had the most elaborate set up. The stage was considerably bigger than even this relatively big band would need. Included in the elaborate set were poles on each side of the stage, that would host two under dressed female dancers each, but only for a few random songs.

The venue didn't allow for anything along the lines of mosh pits or anything, but this drunken crowd was about as rowdy as they could get while still staying in their respected aisles.

The concert started out with the DJ announcing every single member of the band and of course last was Kid Rock who was not on the stage during this time. When he was announced he came out, with a hat, jacket, sun glasses, and a hat with what appeared to be a bandana decorated with diamonds. He would later reduce to his trademark white wifebeater and that same hat back and forth.

During the song "Devil Without A Cause", there is a part where the band member "Joe C" does some rapping, however a couple years ago he passed away. In honor of him at this part a huge picture of him dropped in the back of the stage, and they used his vocals from the CD.

Sometime into the concert he sat down on a stool with two other members and started talking about "the world today," and went into a song about if he was president. After a while he played the hit song "Picture" and the drummer assisted him with the duet, doing a very good job at filling the shoes of Sheryl Crow.

The concert went on including a medley of a number of his songs and one song where Kid Rock went around playing everyone else's instruments. He left the stage with huge applause, and it took even more applause to get him to come back out, but the band did come out and played a relatively long encore.

Included in the encore were the hits from his first album, "Cowboy", "Bawitaba", and "Only God Knows Why", in which he started off playing piano for.

Overall, even if you're not a fan of his music I'd recommend going and seeing him just for the incredible stage show that he puts on.
