I'd have to say that I actually was surprised at the turn out to Rearview Mirror's concert at the Warehouse in La Crosse, WI. Although not many people were there when we arrived about twenty minutes early, many more came right on time to get in to the all-ages club. It was actually their first sold out show ever!
The band stood outside with the crowd before the doors were opened to talk to the fans and their friends who had come to see the show. We made sure we got pictures with Adam, the lead singer, and his brother Jason, the bassist. They were the only two hanging with us. Matt and TJ had already gone back to the hotel.
After the doors were open and everyone was inside, it took a long time to get the show started. The first opener was Abrasive, who I vaguely remember hearing about one place or another. They were very loud, but when you could actually hear the music, they weren't bad. The lead singer had a very astounding voiceyou wouldn't really imagine. He gave off a very Wayne Static-y type vibe. The crowd really enjoyed the band, and they did a great job getting us all pumped up.
The second set was an unknown named Subnoxious. They were good also, and definitely had killer style. The guy at the turn-table did a great job and I think with better equipment would have been able to produce much better music. Joe Hahn would have been proud.
Finally when RVM came out, the crowd got up and moved a little bit. There was even some light-weight moshing. There was nothing to severe though, because of the poles in the middle of the floor. If someone were to mosh into one of those there would be some serious bodily damage.
Their set included some songs off their Blown Out album and their EP. It also included some songs off their upcoming album, which is hitting the stands in early June. Adam was a wonderful singer, and one could tell that he was enjoying himself thoroughly. The rest of the band seemed like they were having a good time too, which is always refreshing.
After they were finished and had left the stage the crowd coaxed them all back for one more song. Everyone was sad when it was over, but we all knew that they would be around again.
Overall I think that all the bands that performed were excellent, and Rearview Mirror really knocked everyone off their feet. The performance was great, the music was great, and I can wish them nothing but the best of luck in the future.
