Most people know Jimmy Kimmel from the Man Show, which he hosted with
Adam Corolla. In case you did not know, nowadays he has his own live
show on ABC. It usually offers a live outdoor performance, and anyone
living in the area can get free tickets.
This was by far, the biggest crowd I had ever seen for an outdoor
performance at JKL. The ages of the audience were pretty varied.
Minimum age is 16, and there were definitely some 16-year-olds. There
were also a lot of adults who probobaly listened to The Cure when
they were teenagers.
Robert Smith (lead vocals) was interviewed by Jimmy Kimmel in the
studio, which was pretty cool. After a commercial break, it was time
to get the music going.
The first song The Cure played was "Alt.End". Now those that read my
review on the The Cure's latest album, would know that "Alt.End" was
one of my favorite songs on it. It was picked as the song they would
play on-air because it's going to be a single.
After another commercial break, Jimmy Kimmel talked a wee bit and then
the show was over. For the outdoor crowd, the Cure went on to play
four more of their "classic" songs, including "Lovesong", "Just Like
Heaven", and "Boys Don't Cry". The Cure is a great live band, and if
you like them at all, you should see them in concert.
